Ideogram Prompts for Posters, Quotes and Text-Heavy Graphics

Text has historically been the weak spot of AI image tools. Ideogram built its reputation on doing it well, which makes it useful for quote posts, posters, sale graphics and typography experiments. Here is how to prompt it.

Put your text in quotes

Write the exact words you want in quotation marks and describe how they should look.

Example: ‘A minimal poster with the words “SLOW MORNINGS” in a tall condensed serif, cream background, small coffee cup illustration below, vertical 4:5.’

Describe the typography

• Type style: bold sans serif, elegant serif, hand lettering, retro script, condensed, rounded.
• Layout: centered, stacked, left-aligned, curved, large headline with small subtext.
• Treatment: outlined, 3D, embossed, neon, letterpress texture.

Prompt examples

Quote post

‘Square graphic with the quote “Small steps every day” in a warm black serif, centered, beige paper texture, tiny line illustration of a plant.’

Sale graphic

‘Bold poster that says “WEEKEND SALE” and “30% OFF” in heavy sans serif, red and cream color scheme, playful shapes, vertical 4:5.’

Event

‘Retro 70s style poster with the words “Live Music Friday” in groovy rounded letters, orange and brown palette, sunburst background.’

Restaurant special

‘Chalkboard style graphic with “Taco Tuesday” in hand-drawn lettering, illustrated tacos and limes around the edges.’

Coaching

‘Clean modern graphic with “Your business needs a system” in bold navy sans serif on white, a thin coral underline, lots of white space.’

Typography art

‘The word “BLOOM” made of fresh flowers on a pale green background, top-down photo style.’

Tips for clean text

• Keep text short: a few words renders far better than a paragraph.
• Check spelling on every image.
• Generate several options and pick the cleanest lettering.
• Use AI for the artistic headline, then add small details like dates and URLs in Canva.
