Flux, from Black Forest Labs, is a family of image models known for photorealism and following prompts accurately. You will find it inside many apps and design tools, so you may already have access without realizing it. Here is how to prompt it well.
Prompt in natural language
Flux responds well to descriptive sentences rather than comma-separated keyword lists. Write like a photographer’s shot list: who or what, where, lighting, camera feel and mood.
Example: “A close-up photo of a ceramic coffee cup on a sunlit windowsill, steam rising, the background softly blurred with green plants, natural morning light, shot on a 50mm lens, calm and warm mood.”
Be specific about realism cues
- Lens and framing: “85mm portrait”, “wide angle interior”, “macro detail”.
- Light: “overcast soft light”, “hard noon sun with crisp shadows”, “warm tungsten lamps”.
- Texture: “visible fabric weave”, “natural skin texture”, “condensation on glass”.
- Imperfection: slight clutter or natural wear makes images feel less staged.
