Text-only AI cannot reliably reproduce your exact product. The solution is to keep your real product photo and replace only the background. This gives you accurate products in endless new scenes. Here is how to do it and the prompts to use.
Step 1: Shoot a clean product photo
- Use soft, even light (a window on an overcast day works).
- Shoot against a plain background.
- Shoot at the angle you want in the final scene, usually eye level or slightly above.
- Keep the product sharp and in focus.
Step 2: Choose your tool
- Gemini (Nano Banana) or ChatGPT: upload the photo and describe the new scene.
- Canva and other editors: remove the background, then generate or place a new one.
- Dedicated product photo apps: many offer AI scene generation built for e-commerce.
Step 3: Prompt the scene
Always include an instruction to keep the product unchanged.
Studio scenes
- “Place this product on a pale beige plinth with a soft shadow, minimal studio. Keep the product exactly the same.”
- “Put this product on a glossy black surface with a subtle reflection and rim light.”
- “Place this product on stacked pastel blocks with bright, playful lighting.”
- “Set this product against a smooth gradient from peach to pink.”
Lifestyle scenes
- “Place this product on a sunlit kitchen counter with herbs and a cutting board.”
- “Put this product on a bathroom shelf with folded towels and a plant.”
- “Place this product on a desk next to a laptop and notebook, natural window light.”
- “Put this product on a picnic blanket in a park at golden hour.”
Seasonal scenes
- “Place this product among pine branches and soft fairy lights for a holiday scene.”
- “Place this product with autumn leaves and a knit blanket.”
- “Place this product beside fresh spring flowers on a white table.”
- “Place this product on a beach towel with sunglasses and shells.”

Step 4: Check for realism
- Shadows: the product’s shadow should match the light direction in the scene.
- Scale: props should be the right size relative to the product.
- Edges: look for halos or blurry edges around the product.
- Labels: confirm text and logos on the product were not altered.
Step 5: Make it a post
Bring the image into a Canva template, add your headline and brand details, and export. See how to edit Canva templates.
