How to Make a LinkedIn Carousel (PDF Document Post) in Canva

Step-by-step instructions for creating a LinkedIn carousel in Canva and posting it as a PDF document, with sizes, slide design tips and posting best practices.

How to Make a LinkedIn Carousel (PDF Document Post) in Canva

LinkedIn carousels are created by uploading a PDF as a document post. Each page becomes a swipeable slide. Here’s how to design one in Canva and post it correctly.

Step 1: Choose the size

Use 1080 x 1350 pixels (portrait 4:5). It takes up more space in the feed than square. Every page must be the same size.

Step 2: Plan the slides

Write the copy before you design. Keep it to 8 to 12 slides:

  1. Cover with a clear promise.
  2. The problem or context.
  3. Value slides, one idea each.
  4. Summary.
  5. Call to action.

Step 3: Design the cover

  • A large headline under 8 words.
  • Your name and photo or logo for recognition.
  • High contrast.
  • A visual cue to swipe.

Step 4: Design consistent inner slides

  • Same headline position and size on every slide.
  • Body text of about 20 to 40 words.
  • Slide numbers.
  • Your handle or name in a small footer.
  • Simple icons or charts where they help.

Step 5: Export as PDF

In Canva, click Share, Download, and choose PDF Standard. PDF Standard keeps the file size smaller for upload.

Step 6: Post on LinkedIn

  1. Start a post and choose the option to add a document.
  2. Upload your PDF.
  3. Give the document a clear title (it shows on the post).
  4. Write the post text: a hook, two lines of context and an invitation to swipe.
  5. Post.
