The fastest way to make your feed look professional is not a new template. It is consistency. A Canva Brand Kit stores your logo, colors and fonts in one place so every design starts on brand. Here is how to set one up properly in about 30 minutes.
What goes in a Brand Kit
- Logos: your main logo, a simplified mark and a one-color version.
- Colors: three to six brand colors with their hex codes.
- Fonts: a headline font, a body font and optionally an accent font.
- Brand photos and graphics: product shots, headshots, icons and patterns you use often.
- Brand voice notes: a few lines on tone so captions match the visuals.
Note that the number of Brand Kits and some features depend on your Canva plan. If you are on Free, you can still save colors and keep a “brand board” design as a manual reference.
Step 1: Gather your logo files
Upload PNG files with transparent backgrounds. Include a light version for dark backgrounds and a dark version for light backgrounds. A square icon version is useful for profile pictures and small corners of a post.
Step 2: Choose and save your colors
If you already have brand colors, add their hex codes. If you are starting fresh, pick:
- A background color (often an off-white or a deep neutral).
- A text color with strong contrast against it.
- One accent color for buttons, highlights and key words.
- One or two supporting tones.

Step 3: Set your fonts
In the Brand Kit, assign fonts to Title, Subtitle, Heading and Body. When you add text, Canva will offer these styles first, which keeps everyone using the same type. For pairing ideas, see the best Canva fonts for social media.
Step 4: Add brand photos and graphics
Create folders for headshots, product photos, team photos and icons. When you design, you will drag from these instead of hunting through your camera roll.
Step 5: Write three simple brand rules
A Brand Kit only works if people use it the same way. Write rules like:
- “Headlines are always the headline font in the text color or the accent color.”
- “The accent color is used once per design, for the most important element.”
- “The logo goes in the bottom corner, small.”
Add these rules to a one-page brand board design so anyone helping you can follow them.

Step 6: Apply your brand to templates
When you open any template, use the Styles panel to apply your brand colors and fonts in one click, then fine-tune. This is the quickest way to turn a generic template into something that looks custom. Learn the details in how to edit Canva templates without breaking the design.
Common Brand Kit mistakes
- Too many colors, which leads to inconsistent posts.
- Fonts that look similar to each other, which kills contrast.
- Low-resolution logos that look blurry on posts.
- No rules, so the kit gets used differently each time.
